The United States officially changed the name “Bay of Mexico”

The US Interior Ministry announced on Friday that the Gulf of Mexico has become known from now as “the Gulf of America” after an executive order issued by US President Donald Trump.
Trump issued an order on Monday saying that the water surface on the southern coast of the United States and the eastern coast of Mexico will be renamed to confirm the “American greatness”.
The Gulf was named “Bay of Mexico” since the sixteenth century.
“For us, the Gulf of Mexico will remain, and for the whole world, the Gulf of Mexico will remain,” said Mexican President Claudia Shinbom last Tuesday.
The US Department of the Interior also said that the highest mountain in North America, “Denali”, will also be changed to be called for its former name “Mount McKinley”.
The ministry said that “the restoration of the two names … honors the legacy of the American greatness”, repeating Trump’s order.
The statement added: “These changes again confirm the nation’s commitment to preserving the exceptional heritage of the United States and ensuring that future generations of Americans celebrate the legacy of its heroes and historical origins.”
