"Old days".. the last cold winds depositing the winter season
Sharjah on February 22/ WAM/ at a time when it believes that winter has gone and that warmth has come, people surprised the phenomenon of “the old woman” or “the days of the old man” that begins on February 25 and will continue until March 4, and may extend to March 10.
This phenomenon is characterized by short cold waves at the end of the cold season, after some think that the winter has ended, to surprise them again without warning, as this period is often preceded by a temporary rise in temperature, which is a “deceptive” rise that raises the belief of some that the winter season It has passed, to return the cold forcefully accompanied by cold winds.
These days are also called “the cold of the chamo” among the people of agriculture, where the “chalter” refers to one of the stars of Scorpio, and some of the people of the desert know it as “the days of Hassan”, which are the days that witness fluctuations in the weather between the cold of winter and the warmth of spring, without that The separation between them is resolved.
Ibrahim Al -Jarwan, President of the Emirates Astronomy Association, a member of the Arab Federation for Space and Astronomy, explained that this period is often accompanied by a cold wave and cold winds known as “the nomads”, which is the last cold wind that expresses the bid of winter.
