An Emirati delegation visits the Netherlands and Belgium to enhance cooperation opportunities in the areas of advanced and emerging technologies, research and development

The Hague, July 11/ WAM/ The UAE delegation headed by His Excellency Imran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Advanced Science and Technology, concluded a successful visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, followed by a visit to the headquarters of IMEC in the Kingdom of Belgium.
During the visit, ways to enhance bilateral relations were discussed in the areas of emerging and advanced technologies, in addition to pushing the strategic cooperation in the fields of research, development, innovation and advanced priority technology, within the framework of the established commitment of the UAE to consolidate the partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
His Excellency Amira Al -Hafiti, the UAE ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, accompanied the delegation during meetings with high -level Dutch officials and meetings with a number of Dutch institutions.
During his two -day visit, His Excellency held meetings with a number of Dutch officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including His Excellency Michel Sawires, Deputy Minister of the Director General of Foreign Economic Relations, His Excellency Ernest Norman, ambassador to the cyber public service and security, as well as Mr. Arwin Nice, Director General of Business and Innovation in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Mr. Harm Van de Watering, Director of the Dutch Space Bureau.
The delegation also participated in a dialogue session on technology and innovation with a number of leading Dutch bodies in the areas of advanced and emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, space technology, health technology, and scientific research.
The delegation also visited a number of leading Dutch institutions, including the Applied Scientific Research Organization (TNO), the Deltars Institute for Water Research (Deltares), ASML, and Eindhoven University of Technology, where the two sides discussed cooperation opportunities in the areas of innovation in applied research, water technology, semiconductor technologies, academic and industrial cooperation.
At the conclusion of the tour, the delegation visited the main headquarters and IMEC laboratories in Belgium, which is an independent and pioneer in the field of research and innovations of accurate electronics and digital technologies.
The UAE delegation included Nouf Al -Hamli, Advisor and Technology Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Edge Group, Dubai Future Foundation, MGX, G42, and the Institute of Technology Innovation of the Technology Research Council.
