18 people were killed in a bus accident in the Thai capital, Bangkok

18 people were killed in a bus accident that occurred east of Bangkok on Tuesday and resulted in the arrest of the brakes, according to the Thai police.
The police explained that the two -storey bus had 49 people, most of them members of the local municipal council, when it deviated from the road while it was down on a slope road in Brashin Buri Province, east of the capital.

The scene of the accident

“17 people were found dead at the scene and another died in the hospital,” said police lieutenant, Seywas Forepachebonchu.
“The driver interrogated us, and he told us that the brakes were disrupted while the bus descended on the slope road,” he added.
Thailand is witnessing repeated traffic accidents due to many factors, most notably the country’s poor infrastructure, vehicles lacking safety procedures and drivers’ lack of commitment to traffic laws.

Victims of road accidents

About 20,000 people annually are killed in road accidents in Thailand, equivalent to more than fifty people per day, according to the numbers of the World Health Organization for 2023.
In October, the fire broke out on a bus carrying Thai children on a school trip while it was walking on a highway in the suburbs of Bangkok, which resulted in 23 dead, in one of the worst traffic accidents in the country in a decade.
