“Dubai Electricity” calls for applications for the implementation of the 7th stage of “Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Energy”

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority called on international developers to submit requests for interest in a global tender to implement the seventh stage of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex with a capacity of 1,600 megawatts (with the possibility of increasing it to 2,000 megawatts) with solar panel technology with a system of power storage with batteries with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts for a period of 6 hours and a total capacity of up to 6000 MiGawat, which will make this stage, which will be implemented according to the independent energy product model, is one of the largest projects in the world that combines solar energy with batteries. The Authority called on the global developers or coalitions to send letters to express attention no later than March 21, 2025.
It is expected that the seventh stage will produce 4.5 Tira, an hour of electric energy annually, which will contribute to avoiding burning more than 36 billion cubic feet of natural gas annually.
The seventh stage project will raise the planned production capacity of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex from 5,000 megawatts to 7,260 megawatts and raise the percentage of clean energy within the power mix in Dubai from 27% to 34% by 2030, and reduce the total carbon dioxide emissions from 6.5 million tons to about 8 million tons annually, which will enhance Dubai’s position as a pioneering global center For sustainability and innovation in renewable energy. The seventh stage is scheduled to be operated in stages between 2027 and 2029. The production capacity of the complex projects is currently 3,460 megawatts and the production capacity of the projects under implementation is 1,200 megawatts.
