"Sharjah Heritage" Open "Heritage nights"

Sharjah, March 8 / WAM / The Sharjah Institute of Heritage launched yesterday evening the activities of “Heritage Nights” in the market square in the heart of Sharjah, as part of the efforts of the Institute aimed at preserving the infinite cultural heritage and enhancing societal awareness of its importance as “heritage nights”, which continues until March 23, offers a rich experience that combines folklore, traditional crafts, heritage food and performance shows that simulate the features of ancient Emirati life During Ramadan nights.

The activities were opened by His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim, head of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, in the presence of His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al -Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of officials.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim emphasized that “heritage nights” comes as an embodiment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in preserving cultural heritage and enhancing its presence in the conscience of society, noting that this event reflects Sharjah’s firm commitment to protecting the cultural heritage and its transfer and transfer to future generations in a manner that combines originality and renewal.

He said that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah taught us that the heritage is not just a past that is told, but rather a living identity that renews the renewal of generations, and it is the bridge that connects us with our roots and forms our present and looks forward to our future.

He added that this event represents a vibrant space for interaction with the elements of heritage, where it meets storytellers, craftsmen, artists and researchers in one place to tell the Emirates story with the tongue of history and the originality of heritage, stressing that this event not only reflects the cultural identity of Sharjah but also enhances its position as a beacon of civilization and human heritage at the regional and international levels.

The event includes many distinctive activities that reflect the momentum of the rich cultural heritage, as it embraces the village of stories and the puppet theater to revive the art of the oral novel that has always been part of the folk heritage, while the children’s village provides the youngsters a set of recreational and educational activities that enhance their heritage link through an enjoyable interactive experience.

The Popular Games Corner provides the opportunity to explore the traditional games that formed part of the ancestral life, while Ramadan kitchen competitions combine cooking lovers in a vibrant competitive atmosphere. Cultural heritage.

As part of the integrated Ramadan experience, the field is witnessing the implementation of the breakfast cannon in front of the fort in a scene that evokes the authentic Ramadan customs, while the curator provides a group of traditional Emirati dishes that reflect the richness of the local cuisine. The event also offers a TV competition that gives an atmosphere of interaction and suspense in addition to the activities of the theater that showcases local and Arab folkloric shows.

The event also includes sports competitions inspired by traditional games that enhance the spirit of competition and fitness between the participants, while dialogue sessions constitute a platform that brings together researchers and specialists to discuss the issues of cultural heritage and the challenges of preserving it, as well as the live drawing is an artistic dimension of the event, where artists create paintings inspired by Emirati culture to document cultural heritage in a contemporary style.
