Assistant Speaker of the Shura Council reviews before the United Nations Women’s Committee for women’s empowerment in the Shura Council and her participation in decision -making

She noted what the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 has made of empowerment of Saudi women by launching many legislative reforms that contributed to enhancing women’s rights and increasing their contributions to society, stressing that women’s membership in the Shura Council is an important step in the process of empowering women, and reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to involving and empowering Saudi women.
She noted the historical decision that granted women full membership rights in the Shura Council, noting that since then women have become a participation in community decision -making, not only in women’s issues but also in all issues that concern society such as economy, education, environment, health, and others.
Her Excellency pointed to the active role played by the Shura Council to support this march through its supervisory and legislative roles, as the solid ground legislation on which efforts to empower women are based to achieve fruitful and sustainable results.
She emphasized that the Kingdom’s vision 2023 created a major legislative movement to activate the contributions of women in various fields, and this movement was reflected in the Shura Council by virtue of its responsibility in the legislation system, noting what the past ten years have witnessed of the issuance of many important legislation to support the state’s efforts to activate the role of women and protect their rights and empowerment.
Her Excellency concluded her speech, confirming that the Shura Council, in addition to its legislative role, exercises parliamentary control over the performance of government agencies by discussing their annual reports and issuing decisions regarding them, as women were the focus of the interest of many of the council’s decisions, through which he called for expanding employment opportunities for women in various sectors, protecting their rights and demanding their participation in leadership sites and decision -making sites in all sectors. Participated in the sixty -ninth session of the Women’s Status Committee (CSW69) headed by His Excellency the Assistant Chairman of the Shura Council, Dr. Hanan bint Abdul Rahim Al -Ahmadi, members of the Shura Council, His Highness Princess Dr. Al -Jawhara Bint Fahd bin Khaled Al Saud, and Dr. Amal Bint Abdulaziz Al -Hazani.
