The Minister of Information, Professor Salman bin Youssef Al -Dossary, honored the Saudi medical team, which conducted the first complete heart transplant using the robot in the world at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and the Research Center in Riyadh, during the fifth edition of the Media Excellence Award 2024, which celebrates creative media work in various national occasions and fields, and honors institutions and personalities with fingerprints and qualitative efforts, in partnership with the “Capacity Development Program Humanity, “one of the Saudi Vision Vision 2030 programs. The honor came in appreciation of the achievement of the Saudi medical team led by Dr. Firas Khalil, Head of Cardiology, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Excellence for the Heart, which has made qualitative progress in the medical field, and contributed to enhancing the Kingdom’s position in health innovation, as it received wide praise at the local and international levels, which reflects the leadership of national competencies in using the latest medical technologies. The interest of the wise leadership and the reception of His Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect him – came to the medical team and the management of the specialist in his office; Emphasizing that every Saudi achievement is a source of pride for the homeland, a motivation to continue excellence and invest in a brighter future.
This global achievement of the specialist comes as a result of the initiatives of the health sector transformation program, one of the Saudi Vision Vision programs 2030 launched by His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister – may God protect him -, which embodies the quality of health care provided in the Kingdom, and the ongoing efforts to improve the level of health services provided to man.
It is noteworthy that the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and the Research Center is the first in the Middle East and Africa, and the 15th globally in the list of the best 250 academic health care institutions around the world, as well as the highest valuable health brand in the Kingdom and the Middle East, according to the Brand Finance report for 2024, and included among the best smart hospitals in the world for the year 2025 according to the classification of the magazine Newsweek.
