المملكة: Saudi architecture is an opportunity to transform the cities of the Kingdom into economic engines

In a historical step that reflects the ambitious orientation of the Kingdom towards promoting cultural identity and achieving sustainable development, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the Saudi architecture map project, which aims to develop the Saudi urban scene by identifying 19 architectural models inspired by Saudi heritage and local culture, while integrating modernity and advanced technologies.
During their talk to Al -Youm, the specialists indicated that the initiative of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to launch the map of Saudi architecture aims to enhance the cultural identity of Saudi cities, and to achieve sustainable development through the balance between social, economic and environmental dimensions
The specialists emphasized that this project reflects the global trend in converting cities into economic engines that create jobs, while preserving cultural heritage, and represents a strategic step towards achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

In this context, the associate professor in the Department of Urban Planning at King Saud University, Dr. Walid Al -Zamil, praised this initiative, stressing that it contributes to the consolidation of the relative values ​​of Saudi cities, which are rooted in community participation throughout history in forming the urban structure.
He added that the re -devotion of this concept contributes to building a renewed cultural identity that is in line with modern global trends, which aim to transform cities from mere residential stability into economic engines that provide job opportunities and enhance environmental sustainability.

A distinctive economic sign

Al -Zamil stressed that preserving the urban identity of every Saudi city, which includes cultural values, customs, traditions and natural and spatial characteristics, enhances urban sustainability by achieving a balance between the three: social, economic, and environmental dimensions.
He pointed out that understanding the cultural and social dimensions that contributed to the formation of the urban environment creates “added value” or “the distinctive economic brand” for every Saudi city.
Al -Zamil added: “The inspiration of the past and the present to anticipate the future allows the Kingdom the opportunity to convert its cities into international economic centers, while preserving cultural originality and urban heritage. This initiative is in achieving the goals of the national vision 2030, and supports sustainable development efforts and promoting the quality of life. ”

For his part, Rami Khan expressed his aspiration to see this ambitious vision that turns into a tangible reality, which reflects the trauma and diversity of Saudi architecture, and enhances the Kingdom’s position as a global destination in the field of urban and architectural design, indicating that the 19 architectural project represents a strategic step towards developing the Saudi urban identity, in a way that ensures the sustainability of cities and promoting the local economy, while preserving the ancient cultural heritage.
