The discussion episode, which was organized in cooperation with the Zayed National Museum, and presented by Dr. Peter Maggi, director of the museum with the participation of Nour Al -Iman, Secretary of Islamic Manuscripts in the museum, and Fatima Al -Tamimi, head of the memorization and restoration unit in the museum, the ancient history of the blue Qur’an and its role in the cultural and intellectual heritage of the Islamic world where it is a rare masterpiece and an exceptional manuscript that is believed to date back to the ninth century AD and is distinguished With its biomed blue blue leaves, decorated with a wonderful Arabic line written with gold and silver water.
In an exceptional step, five of these rare pages will be displayed in the “Zayed National Museum”, which is located near the Abrahamic family home in the cultural area of ​​Saadiyat, to give visitors a rare opportunity to explore this unique Islamic treasure.

Islamic manuscripts “Blue Qur’an”, this rare effect in which the notes of faith intersect the integrity of history and the aesthetics of art, and we feel the depth of the spiritual link that the Holy Qur’an weaves in the hearts of believers.

Nour Al -Iman presented an in -depth historical vision about the “Blue Quran”, explaining its exceptional position in the context of the traditions of the production of Qur’ans through the ages; She said that this Qur’an is unique in writing it in the Kufic script, one of the oldest and most beautiful Arabic fonts, where its text was originally written with brown or black ink, then it was added to it gold and silver touches that increased its luster and the splendor of its details, as it is characterized by its integration between the eastern and western artistic traditions, as it was influenced by the Byzantine methods in writing on the blue pages with gold water, which is a decorative style that reflects luxury and power.

Fatima Al -Tamimi highlighted the pivotal role of technology in preserving the blue Qur’an, and said that thanks to the application of multi -spectrum photography techniques, which depend on the use of different wavelengths of light, we can detect accurate details about the original materials used in the manufacture of this unique manuscript, in addition to analyzing the adjustments and restorative processes that have been undergoing over time.

Dr. Peter Maggie, director of the Zayed National Museum, said that the hidden text under the golden motifs has always been an integral part of this manuscript, noting that the finest forms of knowledge are born at the intersection of advanced sciences and deep human questions, and this is what the Zayed National Museum seeks, where accurate scientific research meets with exploring historical and cultural values.
