Opening the door for nomination for prizes "Sharjah International Book 2025" A total of 625 thousand dirhams
Sharjah, August 19 / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority announced the opening of the candidacy for the “Sharjah International Book Fair 2025” awards, which aims to honor the writers and publishers who contributed to enriching the Arab and international cultural scene, with a set of literary and creative research.
The reception of candidacy requests will continue until next September 15, after completing the criteria that guarantee the commitment of the participants to contribute to strengthening the literary scene and the publishing industry, whose details can be found through the official website of the exhibition, while the names of the winners will be announced during the opening ceremony of the 44th session of the “Sharjah International Book Fair” next November.
The prizes come as a continuation of the “Sharjah Book Authority” approach and “Sharjah International Book Fair” in supporting knowledge and creativity, by seeing and directed by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and enhancing the emirate’s position as a global center for the publishing and creative industries sector, and its role in stimulating literary and intellectual production locally, Arab and international.
The prizes are distributed in 4 main categories, which include the “Sharjah Award for Emirati Book”, “The Sharjah Award for Best Arabic Book in the Field of the Novel”, “The Sharjah Award for Best Foreign Book”, and “The Sharjah Award to honor publishing houses”, and it totals 625 thousand dirhams.
The “Sharjah Emirates Book Award” celebrates the local cognitive and creative production, as it is distributed over four sub -categories with a total of 300 thousand dirhams, at 100 thousand dirhams for each of the “Best Emirati Book Award in the field of the novel”, and “The Best Emirati Book Award in the field of studies”, and 50 thousand dirhams for each of the “Best Emirati Book Award in the field of literary creativity (theatrical texts),” And “The Best Emirati Book Award in the field of the first novel”.
The value of the “Sharjah Award for Best Arabic Book in the field of the novel” is 150 thousand dirhams, distributed equally between the writer and publisher, and aims to honor the Arabic novel that is characterized by originality and renewal and dealing with issues of Arab reality with a critical and creative vision.
The “Sharjah Award for Best Arabic Book” is awarded for books published in the English language, and the total value of the award is 100 thousand dirhams, distributed equally in two categories, “Best Funnian Foreign Book” that honors literary works such as novels and stories based on imagination, along with the category “Best Foreign Book Realistic”.
The “Sharjah Award to honor publishing houses” seeks to celebrate the distinctive models in the publishing sector, with a total value of 75 thousand dirhams, distributed in three categories, by 25 thousand dirhams for each of the “Best Local Publishing House”, “Best Arab Publishing House”, and “Best Foreign Publishing House”.
The Sharjah Book Authority called on all creators of writers and publishers to participate and compete for these awards, which contributed to the consolidation of Sharjah’s position as a global destination for culture, publishing and book.
