A cultural heritage renewed in Ramadan .. “Today” monitors the types of Saudi coffee
With the multiplicity of its types and methods of preparing it, Saudi coffee remains an essential component of the breakfast and suhoor table, where family and friends meet about its unique flavors that reflect the ancient heritage of the Kingdom.
Saudi coffee identity and culture
Today, during her tour in historic Jeddah, she monitored visitors’ demand for Saudi coffee and hosted a coffee expert to determine the types of Saudi coffee, and why is the symbol of generosity and how she was attending in the past and how they got it.
“Saudi coffee is not just a drink, but it is an identity and culture whose roots extend for decades. There are several types of them, the most prominent of which is northern coffee, which is characterized by its dark color, the lighter nuclear coffee from the northern, and the western coffee, which is characterized by its light color, and each of them is characterized by a different way of preparation and flavor.”
Diab indicated that Saudi coffee is a basic drink on the Ramadan table, as it is served immediately after breakfast and sometimes with the suhoor meal. He explained the role of social coffee, as it is presented to the guests immediately after dates, and some families add their own touches to the coffee by enhancing their flavor with additional ingredients such as mastic or saffron.
Weather for family gathering and exchange of conversations
Saudi coffee is part of the daily rituals in the holy month, where family members gather around to exchange conversations, which enhances the values of harmony and social communication.
Some people are also keen to prepare it in a traditional evidence to maintain its authenticity, while others prefer to use modern tools that guarantee the speed of preparation without affecting their quality.
Although the Saudis adhere to the traditional nature of coffee, there is an increasing trend towards presenting it in innovative ways, whether through specialized cafes or by combining it with new flavors.
Diab confirms: “There is an increasing demand for the experience of Saudi coffee with different flavors, such as adding rose water or even mixing it with other types of coffee, but the traditional character remains the most demanding, especially in Ramadan where people prefer to restore the authentic flavors that link them with the memories of the past.”
He added that the authenticity of Saudi coffee and renewed ways to prepare it, makes it the present drink in every Saudi home, to carry the fragrant heritage and hospitality spirit, especially in this blessed month, indicating that in the past she was tightening trips and traveling to people to drink coffee they have, so it became a symbol of hospitality.
