"Ikrum" It launches a project "Ready" To protect heritage in times of crisis

Sharjah, April 5 / WAM / The International Center for the Study of the Study of Conservation and Cultural Property “Ikrum” began accepting requests to participate in the first track of the “Ready” project, which will include an international training course that extends during the period from May 2025 to February 2026, entitled “Protecting heritage groups, live traditions and practices in the face of disasters, harsh air phenomena and complex emergencies.”

A press release issued today by “Ikrum-Sharjah” stated that this initiative, which is funded by the European Union for professionals who wish to influence their societies by protecting the heritage at risk, aims to enhance the ability to protect all forms of heritage from serious threats, including disasters caused by climate change and armed conflicts, whether in Europe or outside, and to find practical solutions to protect heritage from increasing risks and mitigate The effects of disasters, adaptation to the changing climate and promoting permanent peace.

The first phase of the “Ready” initiative includes a comprehensive training course to provide participants with the skills necessary to effectively protect heritage, with the implementation of practical projects in their areas over a period of 6 months, as well as online guidance sessions for a period August 2025 to February 2026, during which participants propose projects to enhance the capabilities of heritage management in their countries of origin, while the fourth stage includes an international meeting via the Internet to publish projects results.

The “Ready” initiative called on a wide range of heritage protection specialists to submit requests to participate in the session, including cultural heritage experts working in museums and libraries, the role of archives, other cultural institutions and community leaders devoted to preserving living traditions and knowledge systems within their societies, as well as professionals from the fields of disaster management, civil protection, adaptation to the climate and emergency response.

“Ekrom” is implementing this project through the first aid and flexibility program for cultural heritage in times of crisis “FAR”, in partnership with the General Directorate of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture of the European Commission “DG Eac”, and in cooperation with a group of technical partners in Europe.

It is noteworthy that “Ikrom” is an international government organization that has a branch in the Emirate of Sharjah working in the service of member states to enhance the process of preserving and rehabilitating all types of cultural heritage in the regions of the world, based on the spirit of the global statement of UNESCO in 2001 on cultural diversity, which stipulates “respect for the diversity of cultures, tolerance, dialogue and cooperation in an atmosphere of confidence and mutual understanding.”
