“Jeddah Arts” .. half a century of embracing Saudi creativity

The Director of the Society for Culture and Arts in Jeddah Governorate, Mohamed Al Sobeih, stressed the fundamental role and pioneering status that the association has enjoyed since its foundation five decades ago, stressing that it was and still is the main platform that embraces Saudi intellectuals and artists, and a key factor in shaping and developing the cultural and artistic scene in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al -Subaih explained that the association pursues multiple and integrated paths that cover vital areas such as theater, cinema, visual arts and music, stressing that these efforts come completely consistent with the ambitious goals of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, specifically the quality of life program that seeks to enhance the contribution of the cultural and artistic sector to the well -being of society.

Creativity support

He pointed out that the long history of the association is full of providing prominent names that have become today one of the pioneers of the Saudi cultural and artistic scene, which demonstrates its effectiveness in discovering, caring and developing talents.
The director of “Jeddah Culture and Arts” highlighted one of the qualitative and distinguished initiatives of the association at the present time, which is the “Dia Aziz Zia Award for Portrait”, which he described as the first initiative of its kind at the level of the Middle East in this accurate artistic field.

Al -Subaih revealed that the award celebrates this year in its ninth session under the slogan “Portrait for our leader and our beloved king Salman bin Abdulaziz”, sending a general invitation to all plastic artists to participate and express technically the feelings of pride and pride in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him -.
Al -Subaih added that the association is not limited to major awards, but rather throughout the year, a rich and varied package of programs and events that give creators in various fields, whether theater, plastic arts, photography, or music, spaces to display their creativity and direct interaction with veteran artists with the aim of refining their skills and benefiting from their wealthy experiences.

Discovering emerging talents

In this context, he stressed that the association’s doors will remain always legitimate to receive talents and provide all possible support to develop their capabilities.
Al -Subaih revealed a strategic orientation of the association that focuses in particular on the children’s sector, based on a firm belief in the importance of investing in new generations as the true creative wealth of the future.

He indicated that the association is currently working on designing and implementing specialized programs aimed at discovering emerging talents through performance experiences, and then working to develop and refine these talents through advanced training workshops.
He announced ongoing preparations for the launch of a specialized forum concerned with a child’s culture soon, with the aim of highlighting the role of children and their creations in the general cultural and artistic fabric.

At the end of his speech, Al -Subaih expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to all parties and individuals who support the association’s march and the participants in its multiple activities, again, the covenant that the association continues to perform its noble mission as a universal umbrella for all creators and as an active motor and a basic tributary of the cultural and artistic movement not only in Jeddah, but in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a whole.
