Today, the “Riyadh Art Week” will be shown by the Saudi creative scene

Today, the Optical Arts Authority launches the first version of “Riyadh Art Week”, under the slogan “On the outskirts of the horizon”, in an event that brings together a number of local, regional and international art galleries, along with cultural institutions, sponsors, artists of artworks, and art lovers.
The week will be held from April 6 to 13th in several prominent cultural sites in Riyadh, most notably the Jax neighborhood and the Al -Mousa complex, along with other sites across the capital, with the aim of highlighting the renewed artistic scene in the Kingdom.

Riyadh Art Week

The event represents a platform that brings together the various components of the artistic scene in the Kingdom, and enhances the targeted dialogues between local and international artistic societies, which contributes to drawing the features of the future of art in the region.
“Riyadh Art Week” highlights the role of art in inspiration, challenge and communication, and finding an area in which creative ideas and visions intersect, embodying the dynamics of the city of Riyadh and its continuous development.

The slogan of the event was inspired by the intersections between tradition and innovation, local narratives and global influences, and the event deals with three main topics: daily life, landscapes, and Mitigat.

The Jax neighborhood is hosting the main exhibition with the participation of more than 45 artistic exhibitions from the Kingdom, the Middle East, and North Africa, as well as international exhibitions, and the works presented provide a cultural dialogue that shows the interaction between the Kingdom and the global scene of contemporary art. The neighborhood includes a series of private art galleries that are organized in cooperation with Saudi cultural institutions, highlighting the role of artists in artistic works in forming visual culture in the Kingdom.

Saudi cultural heritage

Among the most prominent participating groups is the King Abdulaziz International Cultural Center group (enrichment), which reflects an interaction between the Saudi cultural heritage and global influences, and highlights the relationship between material memory and artistic transformations, in addition to a beautiful art group, which provides a selection of artistic videos, displays basic stations in the development of video art in the region, and deals with topics such as identity, belonging, and cultural transformations.

The Visual Arts Authority is launched

The Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG), which reviews the development of Saudi abstract art through the works of pioneers, along with the new generation of artists who reshape the concept of abstraction in Saudi art.

15 exhibitions

The Al -Mousa Complex hosts more than 15 individual and collective exhibitions, highlighting the pioneers of Saudi art and emerging talents, and these exhibitions are designed specifically for the Riyadh art week, to highlight the diverse artistic scene in the Kingdom, such as iV Gallery, Dager of Arts, Word Art Gallery, and others.
“Riyadh Art Week” presents a general cultural program in the Jax neighborhood under the title “How do we make the world of art? Lessons in value”, during which a number of dialogues and workshops will deal with topics and questions facing visual arts, with the participation of local and international artistic institutions, and the animated video art program is devoted, exploring personal, cultural and social narratives through the works of Saudi and international artists.

Interactive workshops

Among the distinguished events, a number of the most prominent Saudi artists open the doors of their studios for visitors, to provide a unique opportunity to directly interact with their creative methods, and art exhibitions are carefully designed, accompanied by discussion sessions and interactive workshops that discuss topics and questions in contemporary art.
“Riyadh Art Week” provides an opportunity to explore a number of the most prominent museums and artistic destinations in the capital, such as the Saudi Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMOCA), which offers two main exhibitions, “the art of the Kingdom” and “adaptation”, as well as experimental workshops and interactive artistic shows.

Saudi art scene

Visitors can get to know the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (heir), northern arts, the Gallery Dialogue, the Gallery 015 and the studios of a number of prominent Saudi artists showing these converging destinations between the past and the present, and highlights the rapid transformations in the Saudi artistic scene.
The “Riyadh Art Week” comes as an initiative from the Optical Arts Authority, to explore the essence of the evolving cultural scene in Riyadh, and to enhance its presence on the local, regional and international scene, and the event seeks to establish a prosperous participatory environment for visual arts, which combines honoring the past, celebrating the present, and investing in the future, which reflects the depth and breadth of the artistic scene in the Kingdom.
