Everyone is looking to conclude agreements with us on customs duties

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he will not back down from imposing comprehensive customs duties on imports from most countries of the world unless countries settle their trade with the United States.
Speaking to journalists on the US presidential plane, Trump said he did not want global markets to land, but at the same time he was not worried about extensive sales, adding: “Sometimes you have to take the medicine to treat something.”
His comments came at a time when the global financial markets appear on their way to continue the sharp declines once trading resumed Monday, even after Trump’s assistants sought to calm the market concerns by saying that more than 50 countries continued to launch negotiations to cancel customs duties.
“I spoke to many leaders, Europeans and Asians, from all over the world, they are burning longing for an agreement,” Trump said.
And I told them: “We will not have a deficit with your country. We will not do it, because the deficit for me is a loss. We will have surpluses or in the worst case, we will achieve a draw.”
