المملكة: An increase of 82% in the number of licensed “food and medicine” factories and warehouses

The Food and Drug General Authority revealed a remarkable record in the total number of factories and warehouses subject to its supervision and its licenses in the Kingdom during the year 2024 AD, recording an increase of 82% compared to the previous year 2023 AD.
The authority stated in a statement that the total number of these licensed establishments jumped from 4254 factories and warehouse at the end of 2023 AD, to reach 7750 factories and warehouse at the end of 2024 AD.

Licensing details

The authority referred to the details of the licenses that were granted during the year 2024 AD that contributed to this great growth, as the food sector witnessed the license for 693 factories and 3857 new warehouses. In the drug sector, licenses were granted to 8 factories and 565 additional warehouses.
The authority continued to detail the numbers for the rest of the sectors, indicating that in the field of cosmetic products, 42 factories and 857 warehouses were licensed during the same year.
The medical devices and supplies sector also witnessed the license for 24 factories and 1405 new warehouses, while the feed sector was licensed for 29 factories and 270 warehouses.
In addition, during the year 2024 AD, the authority granted licenses to operate 9 new private laboratories within the scope of its supervision.
