Mohamed Salah officially extends his contract with Liverpool

Liverpool, the Premier League leaders, announced today that its Egyptian scorer, Mohamed Salah, has finished months of speculation about his future by signing a new contract for two years to extend his stay at Anfield.

Salah, 32, who joined Liverpool in 2017 from Rome, could leave the leaders of the Premier League for free this summer at the end of his contract next June.

“Of course I am very excited. We have a great team now … we also have a great team in the past, but I fell because I think we have an opportunity to win other titles and enjoy football,” Salah said in a statement to the club.

He added: “This is great, I spent the best years of my career here. I played eight years here and hope you reach ten. I enjoy my life here and enjoy football. I have spent my best years of career.”

Salah stressed: “I would like to say to the masses that I am very happy here. I extended my contract here because I believe in our ability to win many great titles together. They continue to support us and we will do our best, and we hope to win more titles in the future.”

Salah is third in the Liverpool scorer list throughout history with 243 goals in 394 games.

During his eight years in Anfield, he won the Premier League title, the Champions League and the Federation Cup once, as well as the League Cup twice, in addition to the European Super Cup and Club World Cup.

The captain of Egypt starred with Liverpool this season and scored 32 goals in all competitions.
