Under the direction of Hind Bint Maktoum .. Emirates Food Bank distributes 8 million meals within an initiative "By giving, we meet"

To go beyond the targets of the initiative announced, capable of providing 7 million meals of excess food and delivering them to the beneficiaries.
The bank’s initiative reached more than 700 thousand families, and more than 11 thousand workers, and distributed 378 thousand and 240 meals outside the country within the humanitarian and relief aid, in addition to distributing more than 8 thousand meals to workers inside the country in cooperation with the National Initiative to reduce the loss of food and waste of food “grace”, through the “Naama Society Refrigerators” initiative, and 3,000 meals to workers through the Zabeel breakfast initiative, within the framework of promoting cooperation Community and facilitate the access of meals to individuals and target groups.
Besides, the number of strategic partners who provided various forms of support for the success of the “Giving” initiative has reached 200 parties from the government and private sectors, hotel establishments, restaurants, and food institutions. More than 1,000 volunteers participated in the implementation of charitable and humanitarian work within the bank’s sub -initiatives during the month of Ramadan, as well as the implementation of 48 educational programs that focused on the sustainable management of the food surplus, and best practices to collect it, limit its waste and redistribute it to the beneficiaries.
Commenting on these results, Manal Bin Yarouf, head of the Executive Team at Emirates Food Bank, said that the results of the “Giving We meet” initiative launched by the Emirates Food Bank during the blessed month of Ramadan, under the directives of His Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Jumaa Al Maktoum, Supreme President of the Emirates Food Bank; It confirms the deep bank’s commitment to the humanitarian and charitable approach, the values ​​of charity, giving and societal solidarity that distinguishes Emirati society and represents an authentic part of its culture. The initiative’s targets’ transgression also reflects the bank’s strategic vision to achieve leadership and sustainability in managing surplus food, through continuous and integrated efforts to collect and communicate it with the highest quality standards to those who are entitled inside and outside the country, and to ensure the improvement of the lives of millions within a sustainable humanitarian system.
Within the context of the initiative; The Emirates Food Bank has succeeded in achieving a positive environmental impact by reducing food waste and converting more than 917 tons of foodstuffs from the landfill, which includes donations of all kinds of hotels, restaurants and food institutions, as this amount is equivalent to reducing more than 2.3 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emitted from the amount of materials referred to, and equivalent to maintaining more than 97 thousand trees.
The bank worked in cooperation with the National Initiative to reduce the loss and waste of food “Naama” to recycle 335,773 kilograms of food residue in the hotels participating in the initiative, and to turn it into 50 thousand and 366 kilograms of organic fertilizer.
The bank also concluded 12 cooperation, partnerships and memorandum of understanding with government and private sector partners, humanitarian organizations, food institutions, and hotels, in addition to companies from the private sector, in order to enhance its goals, vision and humanitarian approach.
The Emirates Food Bank launched the “Giving We meet” initiative to provide 7 million meals on those who are entitled inside and outside the country, through sub -initiatives that include; “Blessings of Blessings”, “Zabeel Iftar”, “Oncestor of Goodness”, and the refrigerators of the community of community, as well as encouraging members of society to adopt the best practices that contribute to strengthening sustainable management of food and limiting its waste and loss.
