The Excellence Center for Organ Transplantation in Al -Takheeri wins the innovation award during the Abu Dhabi International Health Week

The Excellence Center for Organ Transplantation at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center won the Innovation Award for the category of regional institutions within the ADGW World Health Week Awards for 2025, in appreciation of his entrepreneurial contributions in the field of organ transplant innovations. The award was delivered during the ceremony held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, Consultant of Agricultural and Digestive Surgery in the hospital, Dr. Yasser Al -Nimri. It also achieved qualitative achievements, among them the first complete liver transplant using robots in the world, and the first robotic planting of the pancreas in the region for a patient with type 1 diabetes.

The center’s reciprocal agriculture program is a global model, as it succeeded in conducting 500 reciprocal transplants since the establishment of the program in the year 2011 AD, and this achievement has contributed to the high number of successful cases of successful kidney transplantation with “specialized” to 5,000 cases since the establishment of the organ transplant program in the year 1981 AD, so that the hospital is within a limited elite of leading health centers around the world that has completed this amount of kidney transplantation operations, what He consolidates his position as an international reference in the field of organ transplantation, and enhances his pioneering role in providing innovative solutions to kidney failure patients.
