The Kremlin praises the United States’ refusal to join Ukraine for NATO
“We heard from Washington on multiple levels that Ukraine’s membership in NATO is excluded, and this is definitely something that satisfies us and corresponds to our position,” Russian news agencies quoted Kremlin spokesman Damre Beskov as saying.
The threat of the interests of Russia
The American envoy to Ukraine Keith Keel told “Fox News” on Sunday that Ukraine’s membership in NATO was “not on”, after President Donald Trump and Defense Minister Beit Higsith excluded this step last February.
Peskov confirmed that Ukraine cannot become a member of the Military Alliance “because this will threaten the national interests of the Russian Federation.”
Peskov also said that Russia is looking forward to the US leadership when it comes to negotiating a peace agreement that ends the Ukrainian war that Moscow started more than 3 years ago.
He added: “Of course, we hope that this work will be resulted in results.”
The Kremlin spokesman confirmed that the negotiations take place behind closed doors and in a completely secret way and not for public debate.
Targeting infrastructure
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow will study a proposal submitted by his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zellinski, to stop air strikes on the 30 -day civil infrastructure.
“We will analyze everything and make the appropriate decisions,” Putin told official TV correspondents.
