Consumer confidence in the eurozone has declined during the month of April by more than expectations.
Consumer confidence in Belgium has declined during the current month for the second month in a row, to reach its lowest levels in about a year and a half, according to the initial data of the European Commission issued today, Tuesday.
The Commission stated that the consumer confidence index fell to a negative 16.7 points during April, compared to 14.5 points during March, to score its lowest level since the negative record of 16.9 points in November 2023.
Analysts expected the index to decline to the negative of 15 points.

At the same time, the consumer confidence index in the European Union as a whole decreased by 2.1 points to a negative 16 points during the current month.

Consumer confidence in the eurozone, which includes 20 countries from the European Union, has declined strongly from its long -term level to reach its lowest levels in 18 months, according to the European Commission.
These numbers depend on the data collected from 1 to 21 April.
The final data of consumer confidence is scheduled to be published this month on April 29.
