Archive and the National Library discuss with a delegation of seven countries enhancing cooperation

Abu Dhabi, April 29 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of Archive and the National Library received a delegation of educational institutes, national libraries and publishing houses in Kazakhstan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Lithuania, Turkmenistan and Indonesia.

The members of the guest delegation discussed with His Excellency the Director General of cooperation in the common fields, and the delegation listened to an overview of the archive and the National Library, which was established in the name of the “Office of Documentation and Studies” in 1968 under the directives of the founder and Albani Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may God bless him – in order to preserve the history and heritage of the UAE and the Gulf region.

His Excellency gave the guest delegation a detailed explanation of what the archive and the national library offer in the field of enriching and empowering knowledge societies, in the field of documenting the memory of the country and preserving it for generations, and in enhancing the research and academic position in the history of the Emirates.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on what was received by the UAE History Encyclopedia, which documents the history of the United Arab Emirates over thousands of years, and on the most prominent new artificial intelligence projects that relate to the tasks of the archive and the national library, foremost of which is the NLAGPT system that contributes to enhancing the productivity of employees through providing a smart assistant capable of supporting daily tasks, formulating correspondence, summarizing documents, answering immediate and safe inquiries, The discharge and translation system, which is an effective tool that supports researchers and historians, as the user enables the transformation of audio and video files into written and research and search texts, the search for images and face identification, which allows archive personnel to search for similar images or identify faces in huge archive groups within seconds.

These systems are essentially dependent on machine learning techniques, and are constantly fed with huge and varied data, which enhances their accuracy and efficiency.

At the end of the visit, the guest delegation praised the development of the archive and the national library and what it has achieved in terms of benefiting from artificial intelligence and its applications, and in turn in documenting the historical, cultural and cognitive heritage, which is a solid basis for building the prosperous future, and contributes to enhancing the process of growth and the progress and advancement of society.
