The Mexican authorities have begun the investigation, and described the crime as a “female killing”, a legal description used in Mexico when women were killed because of their social type, in a country that witnesses a wide wave of violence against women.

This crime is part of a dangerous phenomenon, as United Nations reports states that ten women are killed daily in Mexico, often by their partners or family members, in the absence of adequate protection and poor legal deterrence.
