Honoring the winners of the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Prize at its fifth session

Sharjah, May 21/ WAM/ The Sharjah Institute of Heritage honored today the winners of the fifth session of the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Award, at the theater of the Center for International Organizations for Cultural Heritage of the Institute in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, head of the Statistics and Community Development Department and a group of dignitaries, officials, experts and researchers from all over the world. Dr. Naguib Abdullah Al Shamsi from the UAE in appreciation of his research and societal contributions to preserving and preserving Emirati heritage from extinction for successive decades through his important studies and research.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim, Chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, Chairman of the Prize Board of Trustees, said that the award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and a vision is embodied in supporting cultural heritage and the appreciation of its pioneers, indicating that Sharjah has become a global model in preserving the cultural heritage and enhancing its presence.
Al -Muslim added that Sharjah launched this award to be an international platform that appreciates efforts in the fields of preserving the infinite cultural heritage, and today it celebrates experts, researchers and narrators who have left clear imprints in protecting this common humanitarian heritage. The award also dedicates the role of Sharjah as a bridge of civilization and cultural exchange around the world.
For her part, Aisha Rashid Al -Hoss Al -Shamsi, Director of the award, confirmed that the fifth session represents an extension of a successful march of the award, which has become a milestone in specialized cultural awards, explaining that the award today has become a global platform that honors individuals and institutions that contribute to Souna and celebrates this year the “Personality of the Year for Cultural Heritage” and it is a gesture to honor those who believe in their age in the service of heritage and its protection.
The fifth session witnessed distinguished posts from various countries, and prizes were distributed over three main fields that include nine categories (local, Arab, international). In the branch of best practices in preserving cultural heritage, the category of the local practices award won the Holy Quran Complex in Sharjah with a rich file entitled the role of the Holy Quran College in preserving the Arab Heritage Manuscript and won the category of the Arab practices award, the Royal Institute for Traditional Arts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the industry Traditional wooden doors in the Najd region, while the Malibar Foundation for Research and Development from India won a file entitled the Malibar-HMM LL initiative in the category of international practices.
In the branch of the narrators and the heritage campaign (living treasures), she won in the category of the local narrator of the narrator, Muhazah Ali Obaid Al -Saridi, Salman bin Abdullah bin Ahmed Al -Hamad from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won the Arab narrator’s award, while the narrator Elizabeth Ward won from Ireland the International Narrator Award.
In the branch of the best research and studies in cultural heritage, she won the local research award, Dr. Aisha Ali Ahmed Al -Ghais Al -Zaabi, for her studies “Traditional Performance Arts and Folk Songs in the United Arab Emirates”. As for the international research category, Jean -Lamper from France won it for his study “Tarab or Nabous”, the loud oud and music in Yemen.
A number of supporting bodies were also honored, in addition to the jury members of the elite of cultural heritage, locally and globally.
