ADNOC and OMV select the executive management team for Borouge International

Yesterday, ADNOC and OMV announced the selection of the executive management team and supervisory board of Borouge International Group AG, in a step that confirms progress in establishing a leading global company in the field of polyolefins through the merger of their shares in Borouge PLC and Borealis, and the subsequent acquisition of Nova Chemicals.

ADNOC stated in a statement that the members of the executive management team have decades of leadership management experience across the chemicals, commodities and refining sectors, and deep knowledge of the commercial and operational affairs of the companies that make up the “Borouge International Group AG.”

The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and CEO of ADNOC and its group of companies, and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of XRG, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, were chosen to assume the task of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the “Borouge International Group AG.”

Al Jaber said, on this occasion, that it is planned that “Borouge International Group AG” will become a leading global company that will play a major role in supporting the launch of a new phase of growth in the sector, and achieving long-term returns for shareholders, in line with the long-term strategic vision of both “ADNOC” and “OMV.”

He expressed his confidence that the distinguished expertise possessed by the appointed management team in the fields of advanced technology and global market development will allow it to effectively supervise the implementation of the group’s plans, to ensure the achievement of its goals and the provision of the basic materials that the world needs.

Roger Cairns will assume the position of CEO of Borouge International Group AG. He is currently the President and CEO of Nova Chemicals. He has more than 40 years of experience in the global chemicals sector, while Dr. Stefan Dubotsky will assume the position of Chief Commercial Officer of the group. He is currently the CEO of Borealis. Before joining Borealis, his global career spanned more than 30 years. Dr. Hassan Karam will also assume the position of Group Chief Operating Officer. He has held the same position at Borouge PLC since May 2023, and he has three decades of experience in refining and petrochemical operations. Daniel Tornheim, currently the Chief Financial Officer of Borealis, will assume the position of Acting Chief Financial Officer at Borouge International Group AG, where a Chief Financial Officer for the new group is expected to be appointed by May 2026.
