Specialist “strengthens personal medicine by 3D and achieves the global ISO adoption

The 3D Medical Printing Services Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center won the ISO International Certificate (13485: 2016) for quality in the manufacture of medical devices and supplies, culminating in his commitment to international standards of quality management systems in the design and manufacture of medical devices, which reflects the hospital’s efficiency in providing innovative and specially designed solutions in complex clinical environments, with guarantee and quality control. The three -dimensional printing services section has become a key corner in the specialized health care system, as it works to produce anatomical models specifically designed for the condition of each patient, surgical evidence, industrial limbs and medical implants, which contributes to raising the accuracy of surgical planning and reducing the time of operations.

During the year 2023, the 3D Medical Printing Department produced more than 1,100 printed samples locally, along with more than 5,000 digital simulations, which led to a reduction in the period of operations by 30%, and the reduction of the percentage of surgical complications by 85%, in a clear reflection of the effect of this technology in improving the quality of care.

These advanced efforts have received several local and international confessions, as the specialized was classified among the best 20 Saudi government agencies in the preparation for the adoption of emerging technologies for 2025, and the 3D printing project won the Global Excellence Award in Technical Projects Management for 2024, presented by the World Project Management Forum.
