Sita Global: UAE airports will establish international standards in innovation and digital efficiency

Abu Dhabi, May 30/ WAM/ Salim Buri, the global president of “Sita” in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, confirmed that the airports in the UAE, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, have established new international standards in the areas of innovation, efficiency and experience of travelers, especially in light of the challenges related to the management of huge and increasing numbers of travelers, indicating that the UAE shows a clear commitment to digitization And benefit from the latest advanced technologies.
Buri explained, in his interview with the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that “Sita” for communications and information technology in the field of air transport is working closely with airports in the UAE to understand its unique needs and opportunities, and to provide appropriate technological solutions, indicating that the company has implemented the “smart track” system at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, which is an integrated platform to address biometric identity for travelers.
He pointed out that this system contributes to reducing congestion and waiting periods, and enhances the ability of airports to deal with the rapid increase in the number of international flights.
He added: Zayed International Airport witnessed a strong increase in the number of flights in 2024, which makes it necessary to adopt digital solutions that keep pace with this accelerated growth.
Buri said: The Zayed International Airport experience embodies the importance of advanced biometric processing solutions, explaining that the airport, since the opening of the new passengers building in November 2023, has managed to process data more than a million passengers using face recognition technology, which contributed to the creation of a unique digital identifier for each traveler, and provided a smooth experience from entering the airport until his departure, including crossing the borders, within a period not exceeding 12 minutes.
He explained that the successful experience of the smart track system at Zayed Airport opens the door to spreading this type of systems in other Emirati airports.
In the context of talking about the future technologies that travelers will experience at Emirates airports, Buri stressed that the Emirati travel experience is supported by smart technologies that provide travelers with a smooth and effective experience.
He said: The scope of treatment of biometric scales for travelers is scheduled to expand, which provides an integrated non -contact experience at the airport.
He pointed out that self -service technology represents one of the main axes in developing the travel experience, pointing out that self -check -up kiosks, self -delivery service, and automated climbing gates, with the aim of limiting congestion and facilitating travel procedures, will be among the main areas of interest during the coming years.
He explained that cybersecurity also has a major priority within digital plans in Emirati airports.
He stressed that smart technological innovations will contribute greatly to enhancing efficiency, reducing waiting times and improving safety levels, in addition to consolidating the UAE’s leading position in the field of smart, digital and integrated airports.
Buri stated that the next decade will witness a significant increase in modern communication technologies in airports, and this will lead to the provision of a smart system with high levels of integration for airports and flight operations.
He talked about the impact of deployment of communication networks from the fifth generation in supporting rapid communication between devices, which could make smooth connections for travelers, hardware and operating systems, and its impact on increasing the level of land communications, especially while providing advanced wireless internet service and heading towards supporting the sixth generation networks.
He emphasized that airports, airlines and governments in the Middle East region with their leadership record in the field of innovation, and pay great attention to benefiting from the latest technologies to enhance the experience of travelers and simplify operational operations in airports, including the vital indicators processing systems for passengers and electronic gates, supported by significant investments and strategic initiatives.
On the role that artificial intelligence plays and analyzing huge data in improving flight management and reducing aviation delays, Buri explained that airports, airlines and their partners possess huge amounts of data, but they are not always understood, employed or beneficial in the optimal way. There is no doubt that future airports will be increasingly dependent during the next ten years on huge data, predictive analyzes and advanced platforms To achieve the highest levels of operational efficiency.
He stressed that the growing role of artificial intelligence and robots does not mean excluding the impact of the human factor on airports, but rather more smart cooperation between man and technology.
He added: We will witness during the next decade the expansion of artificial intelligence to include more sectors, to improve the schedule of flight dates and the design of access and communication with travelers, and in the Center for Operations Support, Preventive Maintenance and Multi -Language Support, and improve the luggage handling in an automatic manner and reduce fuel consumption in self -driving vehicles. Airports and governments will also use it to enhance the security examination and increase the accuracy of the discovery of threats.
