The President of the Arab Parliament congratulates Sheikha Al -Nuwais for winning the position of Secretary -General of the United Nations Tourism Organization
Cairo, May 31/ WAM/ His Excellency Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi congratulated the President of the Arab Parliament, His Excellency Sheikha Nasser Al-Nuwais, on the occasion of her victory in the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations Tourism Organization for the period from 2026-2029, to record a historical precedent as the first woman in the region to hold this position since the establishment of the organization in 1975, in a new achievement that establishes the UAE’s entrepreneurial position on the map of global tourism.
Al -Yamahi praised – in a statement issued today – with this great achievement that embodies the exceptional successes of Emirati women at the regional and international levels, thanks to the unlimited support and a good vision of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him” who pays great attention to empowering women and providing the supportive environment to play their pivotal role in the comprehensive development process that is witnessing The UAE in all fields.
He added that this achievement also comes as an embodiment of the relevant efforts made by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Federation, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation to support and empower Emirati women in all fields of work and leadership and reach the highest regional and international positions.
Al -Yamahi affirmed that the victory of His Excellency Sheikha Al -Nuwais in this high international position reflects the prominent position the UAE has reached in the field of international tourism and its global leadership in this field, and it is added to the record of its honorable achievements in various global forums.
He said that this coronation is a source of pride not only for the UAE but also for all Arabs, and it is enhanced by the presence of Arab women in global decision -making centers, and it demonstrates the ability of Emirati competencies to lead international institutions efficiently and competently.
