Abu Dhabi, July 3/ WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced today the organization of the fourth edition of the “Pike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo” bike race, on December 21, when this year’s version of Al Ain region will start and end in Abu Dhabi, introducing a new experience for the participants after three previous copies in which the race was launched in the opposite direction.

He said in a statement that the race was allocated to him a total value of two million dirhams for 364 awards, an increase of 44 awards for the 2024 version, which reflects the expansion and continuous development of the event, and to ensure that the largest number of contestants.

His Excellency Aref Hamad Al -Awani, Secretary -General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, stressed that the race represents a basic pillar in the march of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to be the world’s leading bicycle sport, adding that the (Bayek Abu Dhabi Fondo) race is a unique competitive event that brings professionals and amateurs, and reflects our strategic vision in making bicycle a basic part of the lifestyle in the emirate.

Al -Awani explained that the fourth edition will witness a major shift in its path by launching from the Al Ain area towards Abu Dhabi, after participants in the past three copies used to start from the capital, indicating that the high number of winners and the increase in the prizes to reach two million dirhams reflect the commitment of the council to develop the event and enhance its position on the map of international races.

The race is part of the Pike Abu Dhabi platform and its ongoing annual initiatives, which aims to consolidate the emirate’s position as a global destination for bicycle sport, and achieve its long -term vision in adopting healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Since the start of the race in 2022, Pike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo has been able to reserve his position on the global bicycle racing program, beating an elite group of participants in the world, and highlighted Abu Dhabi’s commitment to enhancing sport as a lifestyle.

It is mentioned that the last version of the race witnessed the participation of more than 1,000 bikes and bikes from more than 70 nationalities, in a scene that embodies the spirit of tolerance and coexistence that distinguishes the UAE, and reflects the human values ​​that it embraces on its soil.
