"Recycling " It joins the United Nations Global Charter

Abu Dhabi, July 7/WAM/The “rotation group” responsible for all activities related to the development of waste management services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, one of the ADQ Holding companies, announced its formal accession to the United Nations International Charter (UNGC) initiative, which enhances its commitment to extracting value from waste through innovative solutions in the circular economy, in line with the UAE strategy to achieve climate neutrality 2050 and the green national agenda 2030.

The “United Nations International Charter” represents a voluntary initiative that is the largest- for the sustainability of companies in the world, founded in 2000, and aims to develop and implement responsible business practices, disclose them and brings together more than 20 thousand participating companies spread in more than 160 countries, and is supported by 60 local networks around the world.

The recycling group is committed to joining the charter with its ten principles, with a focus on environmental administration, and the preparation of annual reports on the progress made by the group in this field, in order to enhance transparency and accountability.

A recycling group will be able to reach a global network of companies and experts to accelerate its strategic ambition to transfer 80% of Abu Dhabi waste away from waste dumps by 2030.

The group devoted its efforts to reducing emissions through all its operations by creating a carbon removal path earlier this year.

The membership of a recycling group in the Global Charter strengthens its position on the international scene, coinciding with the rapid expansion of the group in extracting value from waste through pioneering projects, most notably the waste conversion facility to energy (WTE), the most advanced in the region, designed to supply more than 250 thousand homes annually, and the project of the most of its kind in Abu Dhabi, which strengthens The ability to extract recyclable materials and convert the waste path away from the dumps.

The group tops innovation efforts to convert waste into valuable resources, such as the project to convert methane into graphine, and the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), in line with the global targets of carbon removal and the promotion of clean energy.

This joining comes at a time when the UAE is strengthening its global presence in the field of climate work, especially with the approaching date of the COP30 Conference, and is considered a vital platform for dialogue and climate decisions.

The membership in the global charter enables a group of recycling to represent the UAE -UAE circular economy model, and to form strategic partnerships influencing the international level, which deepens the impact of its contribution to the national sustainability agenda, and confirms its role in formulating an advanced and more efficient climate future in the use of resources, and embodies the group through its evident values, its reliable serious practices, and international cooperation, a model of management management, up to the highest Global standards.
