The Ministry of Education has set a package of new controls to regulate the mechanism of adopting the names of private schools in the country, with the aim of preventing marketing misinformation and ensuring the accuracy of the legal description of educational institutions.

The controls include four, according to the official website of the Ministry, binding requirements set by the ministry as follows:

Obtaining official approvals when using geographical names

The Ministry requires that schools be based on written approvals from the competent authorities when including a state, city, province, or geographical region in its commercial name, in order to preserve the sovereign rights and prevent confusion among dealers.

Prohibit
. Block exaggerated or non -based names:

The regulations prohibited the use of descriptions such as “Al -Dawli”, “Al -Alami”, “Modern”, “Distinguished”, “The Ownership” and any words bearing the impressive connotations that may delude the public with the advantages that are not proven academically or organizationally.

Mandatory
Minding to include “School” and “private” words in both Arabic and English

The official name must contain the following formula:

“School Name”, “School Name”, to ensure the clarity of the quality of the institution and its educational services.

Academic term

Preventing the use of the term “academy” in the names of general education:

The Ministry clarified that the term “academy” is dedicated to specialized higher education institutions, while the role of the private school is limited to providing public education, and therefore it is prohibited to employ this term in the name of the school.

Objectives and duration of application
Controls aim to enhance transparency, prevent the confusion between educational stages, and to protect parents and students from names that may carry inaccurate promises.

Reconcile
The Ministry confirmed that the existing schools will be granted a deadline for specific conditions to amend their names in line with the new framework, while new investors are obligated to adhere to the requirements since the application stage.

Executive procedures
• Create an updated electronic portal to receive applications for accreditation or amending names.
• Apply a symbolic administrative fee to process applications, while rejecting them before the license is issued.
• Launching awareness campaigns through the Ministry’s sites and the media to explain the controls and accreditation mechanisms.

An invitation to adhere to
The Ministry of Education has called on all owners of private school licenses to immediately adhere to controls, stressing that any violation will face corrective measures that amount to the suspension of the license or imposition of fines according to the private education law.

With this step, the Ministry continues to tighten the special education system, in order to ensure the credibility of educational institutions and preserve the confidence of the parents, and establishes the state’s status as an educational environment with clear criteria that do not accept confusion or claim.
