Masdar City begins the fourth level experiences of self -driving vehicles

Abu Dhabi, July 11 / WAM / Masdar City announced the start of the fourth level test for self -driving vehicles (AV) within the city, in cooperation with the Solptions+company, one of Mubadala Investment Group companies specializing in providing smart mobility solutions.

Live experiments began under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Center, which took over the responsibility of registering and testing self -driving vehicles and granting the necessary operational approvals, ensuring their commitment to the highest safety and compliance standards, and its compatibility with Abu Dhabi’s comprehensive vision in developing a smart and sustainable transport system.

The project reflects the continuous commitment of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to form the cities of the future through innovation, digital integration and environmental responsibility, as well as strengthening the position of the city of Masdar as a leading global center for clean energy technologies, and a real test environment for sustainable smart movement solutions, as well as being the incubator of the smart and self -driving vehicle industry (Savi).

The adoption of the fourth automation level is a qualitative step in the process of developing self -driving vehicles, as it enables the vehicle to work completely without the need for any human intervention within a specific range.

This progress reflects the efforts made by the city of Masdar to consolidate its position as an incubator for innovation, by attracting international companies, in order to test self -driving vehicles from the fourth level within an integrated urban system.

Ahmed Baghaoum, CEO of Masdar City, said that the announcement of the start of the fourth level tests represents a qualitative shift in the capabilities of self -driving vehicles, pointing out that this project is consistent with the vision of “Masdar” aimed at drawing the features of future cities on the basis of innovation, digital integration and environmental responsibility.

For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al -Ghafli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Center, said that this initiative represents a pivotal step within the Abu Dhabi vision to adopt future transportation technologies, and to confirm the center’s commitment to provide an integrated organizational environment that supports innovation and accelerates the adoption of smart transport solutions, indicating that the integrated transportation center is working to enable a sustainable and flexible transport model that enhances the competition’s competitiveness and keeps pace with its aspirations to be a global center for cities Smart and sustainable movement.

In turn, Ali Al -Yafii, CEO of Operations at Slanges Plus, said that the partnership with the city city allows the company to test the fourth -level self -driving vehicles within a realistic environment that combines advanced infrastructure and a firm commitment to the principles of sustainability, as it contributes to the development of its technologies more precisely, in addition to highlighting the role that innovative movement solutions can play in building more intelligent and efficient urban systems, including It is in line with the targets of the strategic initiative of climate neutrality 2050.

The proof of the concept provides an opportunity to assess the performance of self -driving vehicles in a realistic environment that takes into account the privacy of climate and advanced infrastructure in the UAE, providing valuable visions that support the development of the self -driving smart transport sector at the global level.

Vehicles are currently running within a 2.4 -km experimental path linking a number of vital sites in the city, such as the Siemens building, northern parking lots, City Center source, and Central Park. In this path, vehicles are passed near prominent landmarks, such as the headquarters of the IRNA, the MC2 building, and the (The Link) project, providing an integrated and varied test environment.

In the first stage, vehicles will be equipped with internal supervisors to ensure safety during operation, and that a central control room will later be moved to follow -up to the full operation of vehicles with the progress and development of the program.

This stage allows the modification of self -driving vehicles in line with the requirements of the UAE and the approved operational infrastructure in them, and the Masdar City during the period of tests will work to evaluate performance and safety and the extent of these vehicles to adapt to different conditions, in preparation for the study of expanding their operation in the future in line with government regulations and legislation of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

This initiative reflects the pioneering role that the Masdar City plays in accelerating the pace of change and innovation through its smart mobility complex, as the city contributes to drawing the features of the future of sustainable urban movement and enhancing its role as a major engine to develop clean energy technologies at the region and the world, by providing a realistic test environment for the latest smart technologies.

These tests are a new station within the city’s commitment to the development of self -driving vehicles, as it was one of the first cities to launch the first generation of these vehicles in 2010.
