The UAE concludes the largest version in the history of the International Chemistry Olympics

Dubai, July 13/ WAM/ The Ministry of Education concluded today the activities of the 57th session of the International Chemistry Olympics, which is the largest since the start of the event in 1968, with an unprecedented participation that included more than 360 male and female students from more than 90 countries.
The organization of the current session, which was held in Dubai, came in cooperation with a number of partners with the aim of providing an exceptional experience in terms of participation, infrastructure, and organization, according to the highest international standards.
Students were able to perform theoretical and practical tests at a uniform time, thanks to the advanced preparations provided by the ministry, which made the current version a milestone in the history of the Olympics, and won wide praise from international delegations due to the qualitative shift it witnessed, whether in the number of participants or in the quality of the organization and the academic and technical content that was presented.
His Excellency Sarah Bint Youssef Al -Amiri, Minister of Education, congratulated the students who won medals for their accomplishments, which reflect their advanced capabilities in the field of chemistry, praising the role of organizational teams and partners and their efforts in making this exceptional session.
Her Excellency emphasized that hosting the Olympics comes within the framework of the UAE’s commitment to enabling future generations and providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to building a future based on innovation and knowledge, pointing out that the Olympics represents a global platform for converging minds and exchanging scientific and cognitive cultures among world students.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Muhammad Al -Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, stressed that the UAE hosting this international scientific event reflects its position as a global center for excellence in education and scientific research, noting that the success of the organization came as a result of the fruitful cooperation between national action teams and academic partners.
His Excellency pointed out that the Olympics organization at this level reflects the volume of continuous investment in developing the state’s education system and its ability to embrace qualitative scientific initiatives and provide a stimulating environment for creativity, pointing out that the Olympics formed an advanced cognitive platform that enabled students to develop their skills and engage in an international experience that strengthened their readiness for the future.
The Olympics witnessed intensive competitions that included two main tests; One of them is theoretical and the other is practical, they were designed according to the highest international standards, under the supervision of a scientific committee consisting of 23 experts from 12 countries, and with the participation of more than 120 researchers and researchers from the Emirates University, and the preparation hours exceeded 10 thousand hours, which reflects the size of the efforts made and the quality of the content.
The UAE team participated in four students who were chosen after a series of accurate national qualifiers, and they underwent an intense training program that included workshops and scientific camps inside and outside the country, most notably at the “Sirius” center in Russia and a final camp at the Emirates University, which reflects the ministry’s keenness to prepare national cadres qualified for international scientific competitions.
The Olympics activities extended over a period of 10 days, which combined academic evaluation with cultural and recreational activities, which allowed participants to exchange knowledge and build scientific and cultural relations that enhance cooperation between the world’s youth.
During the closing ceremony, His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Al -Qasim honored the students who won the gold medals, where he won the first place Xando from the People’s Republic of China, while the second place was ranked in Vocelaf Werner from the Czechs, while the third place was ranked Ribo Song from China.
30 students were awarded the gold medal, 73 silver medal, and 107 bronze medal, along with 30 students.
At the end of the ceremony, the Ministry of Education handed the Olympics to the Republic of Uzbekistan, which will host the next session of the Olympics.
The organization of this session comes within a series of successes achieved by the UAE in hosting the scientific Olympies, such as the Olympics of Science for Junior 2021 and the International Biology Olympics 2023, which reflects the high readiness of the country and its ability to organize major educational activities according to the highest international standards.
