Creating cosmetic cultivation projects with main intersections in Dubai with 190 million dirhams

Dubai Municipality announced the completion of cosmetic and afforestation projects in a number of intersections and main streets in the emirate, at a cost of 190 million dirhams, and on an area that extends for more than three million square meters, during the first half of this year, as part of its strategic plans to beautify and prepare the city, and upgrading the civilizational view of the emirate, by following the best sustainable agricultural practices, in a way that supports the goals of its “Green Dubai” project, Roam to increase the spaces of agricultural cosmetics and beauty in the city, raise the per capita green spaces, and provide a healthy environment that enhances the quality of life according to sustainable urban plans, which integrate with the targets of the “Dubai Urban Plan 2040”.

The cosmetic agriculture works were concentrated at both the intersection of Al -Khail Street with Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, and the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Street with Tripoli Street, in addition to Sheikh Rashid Street from the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street to Al -Mina Street, Sheikh Zayed Street from the seventh intersection (entrance to the emirate from the authority of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi), and finally Al -Khawaneej Street with the intersection of Al -Amdi Street.

The number of trees and shrubs cultivated in the mentioned projects reached more than 300 thousand trees and seedlings, in addition to 222 thousand and 500 square meters of soil and flowers covered, and Dubai Municipality has strengthened its agricultural practices, by following the latest advanced and sustainable technologies, through the installation of smart irrigation systems, characterized by an advanced design, dependent on placing underground pumps, to take advantage of the upper spaces.

The new systems are characterized by the possibility of linking them to a remote control system that works with Internet of Things technologies, to monitor and remote pumping stations, which contributes to improving operational efficiency in water consumption, and allows continuous and accurate monitoring of performance, ensuring high water availability, and achieving sustainability in the irrigation process.

The Director General of Dubai Municipality, Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, affirmed that the new cosmetic agriculture projects come within a continuous work program for Dubai Municipality, aiming to enhance the civilizational and aesthetic views of the Emirate of Dubai, and raise the attractiveness and sustainability of public spaces according to the finest sustainable and innovative agricultural practices, in line with the targets of the urban environment axis within the life quality strategy in Dubai 2033.

He said: «Our goal is to consolidate the Dubai character and its unique urban and aesthetic identity, and its leadership asserting a sustainable global city with its healthy and vital living environment that has the best levels of quality of life for the population and visitors, and maintains the balance of the urban, urban and environmental scene.

For his part, the executive director of the Public Utilities Corporation in the Dubai Municipality, Badr Anouhi, said: “Agricultural projects were designed according to specific urban and environmental standards, including the choice of carefully various plant varieties to suit the local environment, and we were also keen to unify the entrances to the Emirate of Dubai from all sides, using similar cosmetic fences that welcomes visitors in selected colors that reflect the identity of the emirate.”

These projects included the combination of the cultivation of local environment varieties, such as Sidr, Gaf, Nim, and the items of ornamental, including Corise, Washingonia, Bonnsiana, Melingonia, Albizia, and hellish.

In addition to the work of cosmetic agriculture, the Dubai Municipality has strengthened the attractiveness and aesthetic of the unique urban design of intersections and the main streets, as it provided the intersection of Al -Khail Street with Latifa Bint Hamdan Street with longitudinal lights inspired by traditional Arab architecture, and is consistent with complete harmony with the design of the surrounding cosmetic agriculture, as the colors of these lights change according to various national occasions, to give a remarkable aesthetic touch, It reflects the creative design aspects.

The total number and spaces of plants located within the supervision of the Dubai Municipality until the end of the first quarter of this year reached more than 5.5 million trees and seedlings, in addition to 8.7 million square meters of green surfaces, two million square meters of seasonal flower areas, and 6.3 million square meters of soil covered, along with 1.3 million longitudinal meters of green vegetable fences.

• Projects integrate with the targets of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, and are carried out on an area of 3 million square meters.
