Prior to the Istanbul talks .. Iran holds Europe responsible for the failure of the nuclear agreement

Iran blamed European countries, specifically France, Germany and Britain, for the failure of preserving the 2015 nuclear agreement, accusing it of not fulfilling its obligations, on the eve of expected talks in Istanbul next Friday, aiming to revive the stumbling diplomatic path.

“The European parties were wrong and short in implementing the nuclear agreement.” He pointed out that “the use of the trigger mechanism to re -impose the sanctions is meaningless, unjustified and unjustified.”

The background of the agreement and the escalating tension

The joint comprehensive action plan, which took place in 2015 between Iran and the major powers, was aimed at restricting the Tehran nuclear program in exchange for eliminating economic sanctions.
But the agreement was subjected to a major setback in 2018 after the United States withdrew from it during the era of President Donald Trump, and the consequent re -imposition of sanctions on Tehran, which prompted the latter to gradually reduce its nuclear obligations.

Despite the announcement of France, Britain and Germany its adherence to the agreement, its attempts to circumvent US sanctions did not succeed in protecting trade exchanges with Iran, which contributed to a widespread economic deterioration within Iran, aggravated inflation, and the flight of foreign investments.

European threats and Iranian rejection

The three European countries accuse Tehran of not respecting their obligations, and threatening to activate the “trigger mechanism” stipulated in the agreement, which allows the re -imposition of international sanctions in the event of Iran’s violation of its obligations.

But Tehran rejects this accusation, and insists that reducing its obligations came in response to the “Western Failure” in implementing the terms of the agreement.

The International Atomic Energy Agency indicated that Iran fertilizes uranium by 60%, which is close to the 90%military threshold, while the nuclear agreement set a ceiling not exceeding 3.67%.

Diplomatic escalation and mutual warnings

Tehran is anticipating the upcoming talks in Istanbul with tripartite consultations with Russia and China in the Iranian capital, with the aim of coordinating positions on the nuclear file, in light of European threats to re -impose sanctions.

“Iran does not have any intention at this stage to speak with the United States,” he said, referring to the failure of 5 indirect negotiation rounds that took place previously by the Sultanate of Oman, which ended with Trump’s joining Israel in bombing 3 Iranian nuclear facilities – Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz – which completely stopped the course of the dialogue.
