The increase in the air quality index in Ajman to 96.19% during the first half

Ajman, July 25/ WAM/ The Municipal Department of Planning in Ajman announced the registration of the air quality index in the emirate 96.19%, according to the report issued by the department for the statistics of the first half of the current year 2025, in line with the directions of Ajman 2030 vision to enhance environmental sustainability.
Dr. Eng. Khaled Moeen Al -Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector in the department, stressed that the index witnessed a remarkable increase compared to previous years, as it reached 94.40% during the first half of 2024, and achieved 93.48% in the same period in 2023, which confirms the effectiveness of environmental initiatives launched by the department and the success of its plans to reduce air pollution and promote sustainability.
He explained that this achievement comes as a result of continuous efforts and comprehensive and integrated plans, including the launch of several environmental projects and initiatives, most notably the “Environmental Compliance Program”, which aims to enhance control of industrial facilities, as it is obligated to submit semi -annual reports that evaluate the levels of air pollution, which enhances environmental commitment and contributes to taking corrective measures when necessary.
He indicated that the network of accredited stations to measure air quality and consisting of 7 stations was created according to international standards and within the classification of the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, noting that the department seeks to increase the number of stations to 10 stations during the coming years, to keep pace with urban growth in the emirate.
Al -Hosani stressed that all stations are linked to the environmental data management program, which is considered one of the leading and regional systems, as it allows notifications, preparing environmental reports, and continuously monitoring air quality, and the stations also contain accurate measurement devices that monitor variables such as wind speed and direction, relative humidity, and basic gases.
He pointed out that the environmental work does not stop, and that the department continues to implement the best local and international environmental practices, in a way that contributes to enhancing the attractiveness of the emirate of Ajman as a healthy and safe environment for living, and supporting the achievement of carbon neutrality within the state’s environmental targets.
