The United Nations renews its position rejecting Israeli settlements in the West Bank

The United Nations has renewed its position rejecting Israeli settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the associated regime and considered it a violation of international law.
The spokesman for the Secretary -General of the United Nations, Stephen Dujarric, announced in a note issued on behalf of the Secretary -General this evening, Thursday, that the Israeli settlements establish the occupation, fuel tensions, and systematically undermine the possibility of the establishment of a Palestinian state within the framework of a two -state solution.
The memorandum indicated that the Israeli settlement construction plans in the E1 region in the West Bank would separate the northern West Bank from the south, which strongly undermines the prospects for establishing a Palestinian geographically connected Palestinian state … calling on the Israeli authorities to stop this operation immediately, in addition to stopping all settlement activities, in accordance with its obligations under international law and as confirmed by the International Court of Justice in its advisory fatwa issued on July 19, 2024.
It should be noted that the note of the spokesperson for the Secretary -General came in response to the statements made by the Israeli Finance Minister of Salafel Smotrich, earlier today, Thursday, in which he announced a project to build a settlement focus in the region known International attempts to recognize a Palestinian state by establishing homes, neighborhoods and roads and supporting the lives of Jewish families.
