Abu Dhabi Police arrests 118 beggars during the month of Ramadan

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command arrested 118 beggars during the holy month of Ramadan, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat the phenomenon of begging, enhance community security, and preserve the civilized appearance of the emirate.
She stressed that her intensive campaigns come within the framework of proactive plans aimed at reducing this phenomenon that exploits the feelings of sympathy among members of society, especially during the holy month, noting that some beggars resort to fraudulent methods and misleading stories to obtain money illegally, which is a violation punishable by law.
Abu Dhabi Police called on community members not to deal with beggars or provide assistance to them directly, as this indirectly encourages the continuation of these behaviors, stressing the importance of directing alms and zakat through official channels and approved charitable bodies to ensure that it reaches its true beneficiaries.
It also urged the public to report cases of begging through official channels, which contributes to supporting the efforts of the security authorities in reducing this phenomenon and enhancing community safety.
