Tessi Ayisle Amiz .. from mathematics to international fashion design!

The Nigerian designer Tessi Aylese-Ameiz, the sister of the football legend, Sunday, Olysee, dominates the American fashion world with her innovative designs that mix African culture with modern touches, through her tinglo brand specializing in the traditional Ankara fabric.

Olisie-the advantages of its creativity as “mathematics on fabric”, describes, as it employs engineering concepts such as Pythagoras theory in its designs, to create visual delusions and quadruple forms. In its collection “from Africa to the world”, its designs are inspired by the Egyptian pyramids and the symbols of the Iglo culture, using cones and complex engineering patterns.

Her journey in the United Kingdom began studying the management of fashion products at Midsx University in London, then returned to Nigeria to win the award for the best designer in the country in 2006. Later, she moved to the United States where she strengthened her presence in festivals such as Ankara Festival Los Angeles and Philly Fashion Week, to become one of the most prominent voices that redefine African fashion abroad.

Although the roots of their designs are rooted in Africa, Olis-the advantages of restricting it refuses under the name “African Fashion”, stressing that she wants to be known as a global brand. “I don’t want to be placed in a box. I aspire to show my designs in major stores like Harrods or Mays.”

Her designs drew the attention of celebrities, including the Nigerian actress Volky Olu Voyiko, and the influential American fashion, Judith Boyd. She also received special requests from international fashion coordinators, which established her position as an emerging designer in the American market.

In addition to her work, she launched the “Fashion Professor” project to train young designers through Instagram sessions, to teach them the basics of industry and how to pric be their products, with the aim of enabling a new generation of African designers.

With this, Tessi Olysse-Memayeh graduated from her brother’s football star, to make herself a global identity in the fashion world, which combines African roots with cosmic ambition.
