Abu Dhabi, August 23 / WAM / The UAE continues to consolidate its leadership in employing technological solutions and artificial intelligence in the tourism and hospitality sector, reinforcing its position as an innovative and digital global destination.
Investments in smart technologies and advanced digital infrastructure reflect the state’s commitment to providing an integrated and safe hospitality experience, supporting sustainable tourism and environmental efficiency.
According to experts in the sector, the tourism sector in the country is witnessing increasingly dependent on digital services, smart allocation of guests, smart data analyzes, and smart procedures for registration of access and mobile services, which contributes to improving the visitor’s experience and enhancing tourism performance.
Qutaiba Al -Ali, founder and CEO of The Digital Hoteller, said that the UAE has made advanced stages in the employment of technology within the hospitality sector, indicating that it was one of the first countries to developed an advanced regulatory framework for the holiday homes sector, and stipulated smart entry systems to protect guests and ensure the highest security standards.
He pointed out that adopting technology is not just a step to keep pace with global development, but rather a practical way to enhance the guest experience and ensure its safety, and at the same time support the state’s directions towards green tourism and environmental sustainability, stressing that the Emirati hospitality sector was supportive of the emergence and establishment of specialized technological companies that serve this sector.
He pointed out that the hotel sector is witnessing today an expansion of the adoption of sustainability systems, as more than 150 hotels obtained the sustainable tourism tag thanks to technological initiatives related to energy efficiency and reducing emissions, as well as accurate measurement tools for the carbon footprint applied for years.
Stacy Samuel, Executive Director of Technology at Ishraq Hospitality Company, said that today technology is at the heart of the hospitality sector, as it affects the way of designing services, the mechanism of team work, and the guest experience at every moment.
He pointed out that the cloud platforms, artificial intelligence solutions directed to customization, check procedures without contact, and via mobile services are all factors that raise the expectations of guests with regard to speed, suitability and reliability.
He stressed that the hotels that succeed are those that unite between data, operations and cadres about a clear digital vision.
He added that the UAE is a world leader in this field, explaining that Dubai established a strong base through digital infrastructure, fifth -generation networks, and non -Urban government services, which are initiatives that support the exchange of data safely, provide immediate visions of the tourism sector, and enhance sustainable smart cities practices.
The World Tourism Organization stressed that the continued development of global travel patterns and consumer expectations led to an increased demand for innovative solutions capable of revolutionizing how to try and interact tourist destinations.
According to the organization, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are highlighted as stimulus for change, which provides unprecedented opportunities to re -imagine the tourist scene, and the integration of artificial intelligence represents a qualitative shift in how we understand and manage tourist destinations.
A study prepared by two researchers from the University of Malaga in Spain and published on the MDPI scientific platform at the end of 2024 showed that artificial intelligence is a strategic tool that enables smart tourism destinations to improve data and sales management, allocate offers, reduce prediction errors, and also contributes to rationalizing resources, increasing the quality of services, stimulating local investment, and responding dynamically to variable needs For tourists and residents.
It is worth noting that the contribution of the tourism and travel sector in the Emirates to GDP increased during 2024 to 257.3 billion dirhams, representing 13% of the national economy, according to a report by the World Travel and Tourism Council.
The report expected that the spending of international tourists this year will increase by 5.2% to 228.5 billion dirhams, while local tourists will increase by 4.3% to 60 billion dirhams.
