"Emirates water and electricity" 3 offers for the development of the “C” energy production project in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, September 8/ WAM/ The Emirates Water and Electricity Company announced that it has received three offers to develop the “C” project to produce energy in gas turbines with a complex cycle according to the independent product model.

The advanced companies in their offers are: Al -Jumah Energy and Water Coalition, Simbxorp, the Sumitomo Corporation Corporation, Korea Infrastructure and Urban Development Company, Korea Midland Power, Korea Western Power Coalition, Etihad Water and Electricity Company, and Kyodden International.

The new and prepared carbon capture station is located in the long water and electricity complex, about 50 km northeast of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Emirates Water and Electricity Company leads the efforts to reduce carbon emissions from water and electricity production in Abu Dhabi, in line with the goals of the UAE regarding climate neutrality by diversifying energy sources, developing highly efficient transitional power assets that are prepared to capture carbon, such as the “C” station “C”, which will play a major role in facilitating the integration of increasing amounts of renewable energy, and ensuring energy security.

Like the successful independent product program that the company adopts, it is expected that this project will support the goals of resettlement by providing distinguished job opportunities for the people of the state in the main sectors, thus enhancing the goals of the development of the local workforce.
Mohamed Al Marzouqi, CEO of the Development and Asset Management of the Emirates Water and Electricity Company, said that the gas production plants operating, such as the Tawila Station “C”, are essential to maintain energy security, as high efficiency of these stations provide the reliability and flexibility necessary to support the increasing integration of renewable energy sources in the electricity network, and support the network during peak periods on demand, pointing to the company looking to meet More than 50% of the demand for electricity through renewable and clean energy sources by 2030.

With the remarkable progress achieved by the UAE in adopting clean energy, new energy projects such as the Tawila Station “C” will have a clear impact on enhancing the stability of the network, as this station will become one of the most important transitional assets that combine energy efficiency and the operational flexibility needed to maintain the elasticity of the system, and provide the necessary support to achieve integration between the discovered renewable energy sources, such as solar energy on a large scale.

The project reflects the strategy of the Emirates Water and Electricity Company aimed at providing 10 gigawatts of solar photovoltaic energy by 2030, and reaching 18 gigawatts by 2035, which contributes to pushing joint efforts to achieve the Energy Department – Abu Dhabi Strategic Energy Strategy for the year 2035, and the strategic state initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The project comes within the company’s long -term strategy aimed at developing the energy sector in the UAE, in addition to enhancing economic development, providing job opportunities for specialists, and contributing effectively to achieving sustainability goals in the country.

Once its operational operations, expected during the last quarter of 2028, the new “C” station will provide about 2.5 GB, and the contract is expected to be announced and the energy purchase agreement is implemented by the last quarter of 2025.
