"The spaces of the letter … and the journey of the investigator" Two workshops review the originality of Arabic calligraphy at the Badr Festival

Fujairah on September 22 / WAM / The two workshops of the “Spaces of Arabic Calligraphy”, “The Journey of the Calligraphy Line and Return Again” formed two deep technical stations and knowledge, which contributed to exploring the secrets of Arabic calligraphy and approaching its visual and artistic aesthetics, within the framework of the activities of the tenth and eleventh days of the Badr Festival in its fourth session held at the Fujairah Creative Center next Thursday.
The calligrapher and artist in the school of calligraphy and decoration in Fujairah Mohsen Nassar, in a technical workshop entitled “The Spaces of Arabic Calligraphy”, shed light on the experience of the famous Turkish calligrapher Muhammad Shawky, who was known for his private school in Arabic calligraphy, reviewing during the workshop three main axes, the first of which is the aesthetic and spiritual impact of the phrase “My Lord is easy and not difficult”, and the second is the personal and artistic aspects of the life of Muhammad Shawky, as an inspiring model, while the third axis dealt with the technical origins to write this phrase according to the classic rules of Arabic calligraphy.
Nassar stressed, during the workshop, the importance of understanding the origins of Arabic calligraphy, explaining that the aesthetics of the letter depends on accurate measures, most notably the “point” as a unit for measurement, and the extent of the impact of the craftsman and the arched inclination in creating a visual balance within the word, as the workshop was divided along with my theory and the last practical; Where the attendees interacted with an explanation of a selected sentence, and an open discussion house between the presenter and the public, which gave a rich interactive character that combined knowledge and sensory experience in calligraphy.
As for the “Journey of the Calligraphy and Return Terminate” workshop “by a professor of calligraphy at the Sharjah Art Foundation, Yasser Al -Ashry, it focused on the development of the achievement line through the historical stages, starting from its upbringing in the Umayyad state, through its prosperity in the Abbasid state, and to its adoption and writing in the Ottoman Empire.
The workshop presenter reviewed the most prominent professors and calligraphers who contributed to the development of this line and its merged within the “six pens” system, which is the achievement line, the third, the copying, the Rahani, the signatures, and the patch, pointing to the period of the prosperity of the investigator that spanned for about 500 years and his modern return to the forefront after its disappearance, through the workshops and lectures that seek to revive This ancient art and highlighting it again in the artistic and contemporary scene.
Al -Ashry also dealt with the aesthetic and artistic features that distinguish the line of investigators from others, with explaining the nuances and similarities between him and the third line in terms of composition and style, and concluded the workshop with a living and direct writing of texts using the line of investigators in advance of the attendees an integrated visual and knowledge experience that revealed the depth of this art and its authenticity, in the midst Those interested in the art of Arabic calligraphy and its ancient history.
