Jebel Ali Port receives the largest environmentally friendly vehicle carrier in the world

Dubai, September 24/ WAM/ The Dubai World Ports Group “DPDDDDDD”, the MV Huig Sanars, received the largest and latest environmentally friendly tanker in the world and dedicated to charging cars and trucks, which was installed in Jebel Ali Port for the first time coming from Europe, with 1,200 vehicles on board.
The “Aurora” category is one of the first tankers designed to achieve carbon neutrality, with the possibility of operating them in the future using clean fuel types such as ammonia and methanol, which makes them set a new standard for sustainable marine transportation for long distances.
This carrier is characterized by its ability to transport up to 9,100 cars, while reducing carbon emissions by 58% for each vehicle shipped, compared to the current standards approved by its counterparts from vehicle transport ships.
On this occasion, it was held in the port of Jebel Ali, a ceremony for the exchange of memorial shields, in the presence of Ahmed Badri, Vice President, Public Shipping and Driving in “DP and Bred, the Gulf Cooperation Council states”, and Anto Mayiti, head of regional commercial operations at the “Huig Outolaners” company for the Middle East, Africa, India and Europe.
Abdullah bin Damithan, CEO, and Director General, “DB and Service, the Gulf Cooperation Council states, said that the arrival of the ship in Dubai strengthens the emirate’s position as a global center for the auto sector, and through our handling of the largest and latest vehicle carriers, we have contributed to pushing the shift towards a more sustainable supply chains, and we provide support to more than 940 companies operating in the automotive sector based in Jafza.
For his part, Andreas Ingger, CEO of Huig Outolaners, said that the design of the “Aurora” vector category is taking place to accelerate the shift towards sustainable marine shipping, and cooperation with pioneering centers such as the Port of Jebel Ali is a pivotal step in achieving this goal, allowing the company’s intellectuals interested in sustainability to transfer their goods in a reliable manner, while reducing their carbon imprint.
During the year 2024, the DP World recorded a record number of vehicle handling in Dubai, where it dealt with 1.3 million cars, an increase of 53.6% compared to 2023, reflecting the growing role that the emirate plays in the global car trade movement.
Last August, “DBDDDDDD” has strengthened its logistical capabilities to serve the auto sector in Jebel Ali Port, by launching a new square to store vehicles at the container station 4, extending over an area of ​​2.6 million square feet, and the company is currently working on developing the largest car market in the world, on an area of ​​20 million square feet.
