Emirati food commodities top discount offers in the markets

Consumers confirmed that locally produced food goods in the UAE top Ramadan discount offers in many different sales outlets and stores, noting that these products are characterized by high quality and reasonable prices, compared to many similar imported goods.

They explained to “Emirates Today” that the most prominent Emirati goods that appeared in the discount offers include a variety of food products, such as dairy products of various types, frozen poultry, table eggs, juices, and edible oils, in addition to canned food, pasta, and dates. At the same time, they called for the need for the various sales outlets to expand the scope of offering these products, and to give them greater priority within the stores.

For their part, specialists in the retail trade sector reported that local products, whether food or non-food, account for the largest shares of discount offers compared to imported goods, pointing out that these products represent a basic pillar of food security, and therefore receive priority in promotional offers, especially in light of the increasing demand for them by consumers.

Cheaper

In detail, consumer Jamal Saad said that Emirati food goods currently top Ramadan discount offers in large proportions, compared to imported goods, noting that these products combine high quality with reasonable prices, and are often lower in price than many imported products, which makes it necessary for sales outlets to expand their offer and give them greater priority on store shelves.

For his part, consumer Radwan Abdel Majeed said that during the current period, he noticed that Emirati goods, especially food products, are being offered discount offers in the markets, explaining that these offers include dairy products, such as cheese, milk, and yogurt, in addition to frozen poultry, processed meat, and pastries, in addition to edible oils, table eggs, and canned food.

As for the consumer, Mohammed Khaled, he stated that a number of Emirati goods, whether food or non-food, such as detergents and personal care products, are currently witnessing wide discount offers at greater rates compared to previous periods, considering that these offers represent a positive phenomenon, because they provide consumers with multiple options for shopping and purchasing at lower prices, which contributes to alleviating the financial burden on families.

A large percentage

In addition, the CEO of Union Coop, Mohammed Al Hashemi, said that food products of Emirati origin account for a large percentage of the Ramadan offers currently on the market, explaining that this percentage exceeds 30%, compared to goods imported from various countries.

He added that Emirati food products are characterized by high quality and reasonable prices, which has made them increasingly popular with consumers.

Al-Hashemi pointed out to Emirates Today that these products represent an important safety valve for food security in various circumstances and variables, especially in light of the great diversity of supply alternatives, stressing that the cooperative gives priority and preference to displaying local products within promotional offers, especially as it witnesses high levels of demand from shoppers.

Noticeable growth

In turn, Nanda Kumar, Director of Corporate Communications at the Lulu Malls Group, said that Emirati goods top the discount offers during the month of Ramadan. He stressed that these products are witnessing a remarkable growth in demand by consumers, attributing this to the high quality of these goods and their low prices, compared to other imported products.

Kumar added that local food commodities currently account for about 30% of the total offers offered in the group’s sales outlets. He also pointed out that the group is working according to plans that give local products priority in display and prominence on shelves and showcases, within the framework of policies that support national products and meet the increasing demand for them.

The Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Sharjah Cooperative, Faisal Khalid Al Nabouda, agreed with Kumar that Emirati food commodities are witnessing a clear growth in demand for them from consumers, which has made them top the discount offers and represent a large percentage of them during the month of Ramadan.

Great abundance

In the same context, retail trade affairs expert, Ibrahim Al-Bahr, said that local markets are witnessing a great abundance of UAE-origin goods, whether food or non-food, explaining that local food products include a wide range of goods, such as canned food, poultry, table eggs, edible oils, juices, pasta, and dairy products, in addition to non-food products, such as detergents and care products.

Al-Bahr pointed out that the noticeable increase in the quality of these products contributed to enhancing consumer confidence in them, which led to a clear increase in demand for them during the recent period. He also pointed out that many of these goods provide quality levels that exceed some imported products, which requires sales outlets to support them more and give them priority in supply.
