Mansour bin Mohammed witnesses a workshop "Club accelerators" He stresses the importance of strengthening its role in the future of sports in Dubai

Dubai, 8 October / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, witnessed the “Club Accelerators” event organized by the Council with the participation of heads of departments and representatives of sports clubs in Dubai, officials and specialists in various aspects of sports work, and an elite group of international sports stars.
His Highness stressed that the sports sector in Dubai receives great care and attention from the wise leadership, and he appreciated the efforts of the participating clubs and the good results they achieved in terms of technical and competitive performance in tournaments, as well as in terms of developing administrative work and the system of discovering, attracting and developing sports talents.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the clubs are a major partner in the process of building the future of sports in Dubai. We want our clubs to be a role model for sporting excellence and economic and societal returns, and we will continue to develop the clubs and invest in national talent to enhance the competitiveness of the sports sector in Dubai.
His Highness added: “The Dubai Sports Council will continue its efforts to develop an integrated sports system that combines creativity, excellence and leadership, making Dubai an incubator for sports innovation, investing in national talent and developing competencies.”
The list of participants in the “Club Accelerators” workshop sessions included the Spanish star Michel Salgado, the former Real Madrid player, the Frenchman Bacary Sagna, the former Arsenal and Manchester City player, the Englishman Rio Ferdinand, the former Manchester United star, the Bosnian Miralem Pjanic, the former Barcelona, Juventus and Sharjah star, and the Frenchman Eric Abidal, CEO of the company. Al Wasl Football Club and the former Barcelona star, and Guido Fienga, the former CEO of the Saudi Al-Nasr and Italian clubs, in addition to His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, and Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council.
The workshop participants discussed ways to enhance cooperation between government and private clubs, benefit from successful international experiences in the fields of training, professional management, ownership of sports academies, and the importance of working to establish an integrated professional environment starting from the age groups all the way to the level of the first clubs.
The participants reviewed possible steps to support the development of the club system in Dubai, and transform them into sustainable sports and community centers that contribute to achieving Dubai’s future vision in the sports and social fields and enhancing the quality of life of community members.
Attracting talented people
His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the importance of attracting talented athletes from around the world, and enhancing Dubai’s position as an attractive destination for international sports stars who reside in the city, invest in it, and believe in a sporting future based on providing a supportive incubator for talent, investments, and sporting successes.
The discussions in the workshop covered a number of main topics, most notably enhancing cooperation to bridge organizational and administrative gaps, developing a cohesive system that ensures the clubs’ sustainability and growth, studying the clubs’ challenges with the aim of developing practical sustainable solutions, determining the clubs’ priorities and supporting the implementation of their future strategies and visions, and exploring the strengths and opportunities available to develop their administrative and technical performance.
During the workshop, some of the initiatives being worked on were discussed to support government clubs in the process of institutional and professional transformation, enhance their ability to compete, attract investments, and develop national talent.
This event comes within the framework of the efforts of the Dubai Sports Council to enhance governance and sustainability in the club system, and to develop a flexible administrative work model that achieves a balance between sports performance and economic and social returns, and enhances Dubai’s position as a leading center in the sports industry at the regional and international levels.
The outcomes of the “Club Accelerators” workshop constitute an important addition to the Council’s efforts, programs and initiatives to develop government and private clubs in Dubai, and support the launch of pilot projects to apply best practices in various fields, with the successful results later being disseminated to various clubs in the emirate, within the framework of a comprehensive vision to build a sustainable professional sports system.
