"Permanent Committee for Abu Dhabi Technical Standards" Technical manuals are freely adopted

Abu Dhabi, October 10 / WAM / The Permanent Technical Committee for Abu Dhabi Technical Standards approved specialized marine technical guides and standards to regulate marine activities and enhance the quality of marine infrastructure and the safety of its activities.

A statement issued today stated that the committee discussed, during its last regular meeting, a number of new technical documents that were prepared by the Integrated Transport Center, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Maritime and in coordination with a number of concerned authorities, including the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, the Department of Economic Development, the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the National Guard Command and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The meeting aimed to regulate marine activities in the emirate and raise levels of safety and quality within this vital sector, in a way that supports the strategic objectives of the Abu Dhabi government in the field of sustainability, innovation and quality of life within a framework of integration to ensure that standards are effectively applied on the ground.

During the meeting organized by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, five specialized technical guides were presented that were developed based on international best practices, to form a regulatory and operational reference that enhances the efficiency of work in marine projects and activities, including the Abu Dhabi Guide to Controls and Requirements for Safe Practices for Marine Activities and Operations, which focuses on enhancing safety in Abu Dhabi waters by enabling marine companies to carry out their operations. Operating according to clear standards safely and effectively.

The guide covers commercial licensing and operating permit requirements, while providing practical safety guidance for a wide range of activities such as marine entertainment, vessel management, mooring, bunkering, diving, salvage, wreck removal and hydrographic surveys.

The Abu Dhabi Guidebook was also reviewed for controls and requirements for the safe operation of public water transport, which aims to ensure the safe and sustainable operation of public water transport and its stations by setting minimum safety standards, licensing requirements and guidelines for marine operators and crews, and constitutes a reference for institutions, regulators and operators to ensure the safety of passengers and protect the marine environment. The committee discussed the Abu Dhabi Guide for Controls and Requirements for the Construction and Design of Small Marine Crafts to regulate the design and construction of marine crafts that are less than 24 meters in length, such as recreational boats, floating homes and restaurants. It includes requirements for classification, technical supervision, issuance of certificates, and regulation of this sector, and also provides appropriate safety standards for these vessels.

The Abu Dhabi Guidebook for controls and requirements for marine infrastructure design was also reviewed, as it provides engineering requirements for the design and development of marine and coastal infrastructure projects, such as piers, water channels, breakwater buildings, boat houses, and water drainage outfalls, and targets developers, consultants, and contractors working in waterfront projects in the emirate, to unify practices. And achieving construction sustainability.

The committee reviewed the fifth and final guideline on controls and requirements for safe practices for small marine craft operations, which aims to set minimum standards for the safe operation of small recreational and commercial marine crafts and enable owners of recreational or commercial marine crafts and marine companies to manage their operations safely and effectively by specifying operational and regulatory requirements and providing operating models and procedures. Standard.
