China reviews its efforts in renewable energy during "Nature Conservation Conference"

Abu Dhabi, 11 October / WAM / The China Pavilion at the World Conservation Congress, held at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Grounds, showcased its expertise in developing renewable energy projects in environmentally friendly and integrated ways with the local community, presenting practical models for protecting the desert and local animals, in addition to Chinese investment initiatives in the UAE and countries of the region.
Jiang Hao, representative of the China Institute of Renewable Energy Engineering, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that his country’s pavilion includes four main sessions, the most prominent of which is a session entitled “Environmental protection during the implementation of renewable energy projects,” and another that deals with communication with the local community and dealing with local culture, noting that applied examples will be presented, such as the solar energy “sauna” project based on environmental restoration, in addition to methods. Protecting the desert, dealing with sand dunes, preserving the environment and white animals.
He added that China’s participation in the conference aims to exchange expertise and share successful experiences in the field of renewable energy development, noting that Chinese companies and research centers are implementing extensive investments in the UAE and the region to enhance future cooperation in this field.
He explained that the department in which he works bears responsibility for cooperation between China and other countries, stressing that the biggest challenge facing his country is ensuring that the development of renewable energy does not negatively affect the environment, and how to gain acceptance by the local community for these projects.
He concluded by saying that all these issues must be taken into consideration to achieve a balance between environmental and economic development, stressing that China is the largest developer of renewable energy in the world. It contributes more than 60% of the total newly installed energy globally, indicating that the transition towards clean energy has become an urgent necessity to confront climate change and environmental challenges.
He stressed the importance of developing renewable energy projects in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner that ensures the protection of biodiversity and supports the empowerment of local communities.
