"Asian Olympic": "Bahrain Games" An exceptional event with the participation of 4,000 male and female athletes

Manama, October 20 / WAM / The Olympic Council of Asia confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is on the cusp of a historic and exceptional event by hosting the Asian Youth Games for the first time, during the period from 22 to 31 October this year, with the participation of more than 4,000 male and female athletes, including the UAE delegation, to compete in 249 competitions in which medals will be awarded across 26 Olympic and Asian sports.
In a statement today on the occasion of the start of the countdown to the opening ceremony, the Council praised the integrated equipment, modern infrastructure, logistical and organizational arrangements, receiving participating delegations, in accordance with the best international standards, and providing all requirements for participants.
For his part, His Excellency Hussein Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, said that the successes achieved by Asian sports on the international scene are the result of sound planning, the great efforts made by the National Olympic Committees, and the broad support for the youth category, through integrated development programs, with the aim of qualifying them, refining their skills, and enabling them to achieve achievements in various forums.
He explained that the Third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain promote the lofty human values that sport spreads, foremost of which are peace, coexistence, cultural diversity, harmony, love and friendship among the people of the continent in the crucible of sport and honorable sports competition, to deepen awareness and develop competitive capabilities, in line with the Olympic Council’s strategy for sustaining excellence for athletes on the continent.
He pointed to the great confidence in the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the event, and the success and distinction of the events through accelerated arrangements at all levels, with the influx of participants from all countries of the continent, in addition to the qualitative equipment in 23 sports sites, more than 30 training fields and 3 main areas, and a work team that includes 1,200 individuals and 3,000 volunteers.
He praised the efforts of officials in all organizing committees to make arrangements for the opening ceremony at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center, which will be held on October 22.
Al-Musallam described the tournament as a strategic stage to prepare the continent’s champions, in preparation for their participation in the Youth Olympic Games, Dakar 2026, and the Asian Games in the Japanese city of Aichi Nagoya 2026, and the emergence of champions in all games, due to the participation of players between the ages of 14 to 17 years, which is an indication of the levels of development in Asia, leading up to the Olympics. 2028.
