The number of Emiratis working in state banks, by the end of 2024, recorded its highest level, with 14,559 employees, who constituted about 37.3% of the total number of bank employees, whose total number reached 39,046 employees of different nationalities at the end of last year.

The latest statistics from the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics showed that the number of Emirati employees in banks operating in the country has witnessed significant increases over the past three years in particular.

According to statistics, a copy of which was obtained by Emirates Today, the number of national employees in banks reached 10,246 employees by the end of 2016, then decreased to 9,707 employees by the end of 2017, then increased to 10,048 employees by the end of 2018.

The number continued to rise to 10,887 employees by the end of 2021, then increased significantly to reach 12,062 employees by the end of 2022, and then continued to rise to reach 12,995 employees by the end of 2023, jumping to 14,559 employees by the end of last year.

At the same time, the Center explained that the number of non-Emirati employees in banks operating in the country reached 26,725 employees at the end of 2016, then their number declined to 24,968 employees at the end of 2017, rising to 26,581 employees at the end of 2018, and then decreased to 22,676 employees at the end of 2021, but it returned and increased by the end of 2018. 2022 to 23,768 employees. It continued to rise to 25,173 employees by the end of 2023, before decreasing to 24,487 employees by the end of last year, accounting for 62.7% of the total number of employees in banks.

The total number of employees in banks reached 36,971 employees at the end of 2016, then decreased to 34,675 employees at the end of 2017, and then rose to 36,629 employees at the end of 2018.
